Equinox Yoga Class: Week 3 of Shakti’s Harvest

This week’s class lands around the autumn equinox – the one point in the year when day and night are genuinely equal. Not one edging out the other, the way it feels most months, but a real, brief balance between light and dark. That’s the theme of Week 3: Shakti in Balance.

A Verse About the Turning Point

Each week in this series, I share a verse live from The Radiance Sutras. This week’s verse meditates on the turning point between one breath and the next: the moment exhale becomes inhale, not as an empty gap, but as a doorway.

It’s a beautiful idea on paper. But by the time it’s read aloud, we will have already felt it – through breath, through journaling, movement and through a pause held on purpose rather than rushed past.

The Physical Practice: Equal Breath, Then a Balance-Led Flow

The class opens with Sama Vritti, or Equal Breath – the same count on the inhale and the exhale, with real attention paid to the pause at the top and bottom of each one. That pause is the whole point tonight: not empty, but a turning point, mirrored later in the flow itself.

From there, a short journaling practice, then a 40-minute flow that builds steadily – warming through gentle twists and a slow, deliberate Sun Salutation sequence before moving into the real heart of the class: a standing sequence built around Crescent, Pyramid, Warrior III, and Half Moon, repeated and extended into Tree Pose and a Pigeon squat on the second pass. It’s a genuinely demanding stretch of class – balance poses done well ask a lot of focus and strength at once – before settling back down through Pigeon, a supine leg stretch, and gentle twists.

The class closes with Box Breath, a short body scan, and finally, that verse – landing on a body that’s already spent an hour finding its own version of balance.

Join Us

This class is part of an 8-week, women-only autumn yoga journey exploring the divine feminine through The Radiance Sutras, autumn as the backdrop rather than the whole story. If Weeks 1 or 2 weren’t the right fit for your schedule, it’s not too late to join for Week 3 onward – just book on.

What to bring: your mat, a strap & block (we have some in class if not), and a pen and paper or notebook for journaling.

Take care, Sian
