Week 6: Spring Yoga for Surrender

“From contentment, unsurpassed happiness is obtained. Now, we let the ‘I’ dissolve into the ‘All’.”

We have spent five weeks building our fire, opening our hearts, and reclaiming our radiance. We have practiced the radical act of being enough. Now, in our final week, we reach the pinnacle of our journey – Samadhi (Pure Oneness) and Ishvara Pranidhana (Surrender).

The Drop and the Ocean

we often view surrender as a defeat – a sign of giving up. In yoga for surrender is our greatest victory. It is the moment the drop of water realises it doesn’t have to struggle to be the ocean because it already is the ocean.

Ishvara Pranidhana is the practice of surrendering the Small Self – the part of us that is afraid, the part that wants to control every outcome, and the part that feels separate from the world. When we let that go, we merge with the Great Self: the interconnected self with others and the world around us.

On the Mat

Our final physical practice is a celebration of Full Body Nourishment. Our flow will transition from effort into effortless ease:

We begin grounded on the floor, moving through Figure 4 Bridge pulses and Mini Wild Things. Using our straps for shoulder flossing, we physically unbind the tension in our upper bodies.

Through High Lunge pulses and Goddess squat pulses, we move away from static, rigid holds and instead embrace the vibration of being alive and whole in our strength.

We move through the intensity of Wild Thing and Lizard before settling into deep, quiet holds in Pigeon and Mermaid. Here, we give 100% of our weight to the earth, surrendering the small, fearful voice of the ego and merging with the momentum of the breath.

Closing with breathwork & Metta Meditation

To close our 6-week journey, we move into breathwork followed by a Metta Meditation. We will send loving-kindness to ourselves, our loved ones, the strangers we pass on the street, and even those who challenge our peace. We do this to realise that the divide between “us” and “them” is an illusion.
